IgA Nephropathy also known as Berger’s Disease is an autoimmune disease that slowly damages the kidneys over time. The damage occurs when an antibody called immunoglobulin A (IgA) builds up in your kidneys. This buildup of IgA causes inflammation to occur and makes it difficult for your kidneys to filter out all the waste from your blood. In some cases, like mine, it can lead to complete kidney failure. To survive I need a kidney transplant.
